A reflection on the strategies through which authoritarian forces seek to establish cultural hegemony, influencing institutions and public discourse. Through the perspectives of guests from Ukraine, Tunisia, Germany and Italy, the discussion compares different political contexts and maps the transformations currently unfolding across Europe and beyond.
How can we continue to create culture when institutions are threatened or controlled by illiberal politicians? These reflections lead to an even more radical contradiction: how can we oppose the enemies of democracy without adopting their methods?
