CONFERENCE
Saturday, April 18, 5:00 PM, Teatro Garibaldi
As part of the Earth Day Med Festival, this meeting brings together a critical reflection on the connections between environmental crises and systems of power. Patricia Hill Collins, one of the most influential voices in Black feminism and intersectionality, will engage in a public dialogue with Ségolène Pruvot (Fondazione Studio Rizoma and Director of European Alternatives) and Ignazia Bartholini (University of Palermo).
The event explores how gender, race, class, and territorial inequalities are intertwined with ecological exploitation, focusing on the Mediterranean as a space shaped by historical asymmetries, extractivism, migration, and resistance.
Combining academic perspectives with grassroots practices, the conference opens a dialogue with local collectives, highlighting ecofeminism both as a critical framework and a lived collective practice oriented toward care, justice, and a sustainable future.
Patricia Hill Collins is a sociologist, feminist theorist, and Distinguished University Professor Emerita, recognized as one of the leading voices in Black Feminism, intersectionality theory, and social justice studies.
