THE BOOK

The pages of “Sottotraccia alla luce del sole” preserve the memory of four conversations held at Palazzo Butera in February 2024, involving many of the non-institutional protagonists of Palermo’s creative renaissance. Over the last decade, these figures have contributed to reshaping the city’s artistic image.

Designed as a moment of self-analysis on the role and challenges of the Palermo artistic milieu, the debate unfolds along four thematic axes that shed light on the urban environment, considering the growing international artistic attention the city has received.

  • The first conversation explores the public marks left by Palermo’s creative shift, seen as a form of writing that interprets the city’s spirit.
  • The second focuses on the daily actions carried out by the artistic community, which has chosen the city as its urban and social field of intervention.
  • The third examines regenerative spaces that individual artists or collectives have reclaimed to propose new ways of revitalizing the urban geography.
  • The fourth addresses the cyclical nature of virtuous artistic interventions aimed at fostering autonomous ecosystems.
