6–7–8 May 2025, Abapa Open Studios + Meeting in the Cobalt Blue Room
A project by the Department of Visual Arts, in collaboration with the Department of Art Communication and Education, curated by Professors Francesco Albano, Daniela Bigi, Marcello Buffa, Giuseppe Buzzotta, Stefania Galegati, and Rosa Persico.

On May 6, 7, and 8, the Palermo Academy will host a group of curators, critics, founders of independent spaces, and other professionals active in the art system, creating an opportunity for encounters with students and faculty within the dynamic spaces of Palazzo Santa Rosalia and the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa.
The twelve guests represent a diverse range of geographic backgrounds, interests, and professional expertise, enabling meaningful exchanges rooted in a hands-on, workshop-based approach that is increasingly central to the perspectives of younger generations.

The Afffioriture project will bring to Palermo:
Flaminia Bulla (co-owner of Litografia Bulla, Rome), Camilla Gurgone (artist, member of spazioSerra and the project space Omuamua, Milan), Giancarlo Nunziato (artist, founder of Kunstschau and PaneVino Art Lab, Lecce), Maria Vittoria Pinotti (independent curator and coordinator of the Claudio Abate Archive, Rome), Saverio Verini (critic and curator, director of Palazzo Collicola, Spoleto), Isabella Vitale (curator, founder of the independent space Pianobi, Rome), Vincenzo Zancanà (artist, member of the Tretre-Viafarini group), and Filippo Tincolini (artist, founder of Litix spa, Carrara).

Additionally, with the goal of introducing both students and guests to the vibrant work of individuals and collectives active in the Palermo scene in recent years, on Tuesday, May 6 at 5:00 PM, a talk will be held in the Cobalt Blue Room featuring Cristina Alga (founder and director of the Ecomuseum Mare Memoria Viva), Genuardi/Ruta (artists, artistic directors of L’Ascensore), Giorgio Mega (music curator, production director of Fondazione Studio Rizoma), and Tito Puglielli (filmmaker, co-founder of Corrente).
