BARRANI – THE DOUBLE ABSENCE emerges as a sound-based research that transforms into a performance and a music production, unfolding in a field of echoes, reverberations, and words. It evokes a presence “always in the wrong place,” the a-topos condition described by Said and Sayad, which marks the migratory experience: a double absence between origin and arrival. In Tunisian, barrani means “foreigner,” someone coming from outside and embarking on the journey to Europe. Nostalgia, exile, mother tongue and memory become both refuge and bodily archive in this performative research dedicated to the diaspora generation.
