“All my love for spaceships, above and below the ice. Your movements, driven by what no one else can see… Love can make me alien and new. And humble on a planet I inhabit and don’t know. And delicate with the galaxies that inhabit me, and cry: home.” – Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Undrowned.
In December 2024, Porco Rosso turns 10. We asked ourselves what we would like from the next 10 years of Porco Rosso and we started to dream. And dreaming is more beautiful when done together. The words quoted above by Alexis Pauline Gumbs – in the six-handed Italian translation – resonated and inspired us. Each person is a plurality of worlds. Each community is an infinite constellation of ideas and passions. And around us there are spaceships that explore the worlds that make us up. The multiple, choral, boundless and powerful identities of our lives.
With great joy, from December 6th to 8th, we will dedicate a microfestival to the GALAXIES THAT LIVE IN US in collaboration with the Fondazione Studio Rizoma as a continuation of our fellowship: three days of panels, debates, performances and parties to celebrate ten years of life of our space. We will discuss student, environmental, anti-racist and anti-fascist movements, inviting everyone to participate, contribute, dream. We will analyze the changes taking place in our territory, from incinerators to reception centers, from drought to places and practices of confinement. We will reflect on being anti-fascist today, with full knowledge of a colonial and patriarchal past and present, which asks us to confront our uncomfortable roots in order to emancipate ourselves from them. And we will share dances, food, music of struggle and inspiration, essential to celebrate the first ten years of our collective space, and to imagine the next ten together!
