An intimate performance of storytelling and song about how our bodies and the bodies of the earth are living archives of stories told and untold.
A gesture to remember and retell the story of a Palestinian peasant woman, and to dismantle the violence of dominant narratives. This work was born during the Gaza genocide and the war in Lebanon and seeks to maintain a tender balance between the loss and pain we feel and the hope that seeds, trees, songs, and stories embody. An invitation to engage in a simple gesture of reparation and testimony.
Lina Issa (b. 1981) is a mother, artist, and writer, among other identities. She lives in Palermo and works across diverse contexts and geographies. Lina left Lebanon for a postgraduate research fellowship in Fine Arts at the Jan Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, the Netherlands (2003–2005). She then earned a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2006). Since then, she has worked, alone and in collaboration, in a wide range of media including performance, writing, video, and cultural programming.
